Better than Postcards

SONY DSCDear Matt,

During the evenings when the sun had set and the pool had closed, you would keep yourself busy by pulling out all the crayons (over 30 of them, I know because I was the one who had to pick them all up, lol) and you would begin to draw.

When we’d asked what you were doing, the answer was kind of surprising, “I’m drawing pictures for my friends” and you were so serious about it (It was a surprise because no TV was mentioned :) ). I have taken photos of all the pictures that you had drawn and will show it to you one day :) they were just scenery pictures, the sun sits gently below a heavy blue sky whilst hovering above a deep green sea, and in the middle were trees standing on one long beautiful beach... :)

Today was your first day back at school (29.10.12) and I’d guess I’ll find out tonight if you had given all the pictures to all of your friends or not :)

Oh, I see it now :)

I just couldn't see it, friends and family (including your mother) kept saying that you two look alike, of course I gave my usual sincere smile in reply, but I just couldn’t find any similarities... until now :)

This photo was taken a few days ago on our way to Cha Am, and looking at this for the first time, I had really thought I was looking at Matt when he was younger, it could be because March is older now (almost 12 months :) now) so her facial features are becoming more defined. It gave me a huge smile the see it for the first time :)

My little Aquaman :)

Dear Matt,

It has been a while since I had a swim with you, and I have always been very apprehensive with you around deep water. So it was a real surprise to see how much of an Aquaman you are becoming :) I know that you are having extra lessons with your auntie during the week, but again, to see you taking a deep breath and dive down to the bottom of the pool (twice your height) to pick up the toys was brilliant.

SONY DSCI must say your doggy paddle skill is first class, if it ever became an Olympic event I am sure you’ll be representing Thailand for sure :) haa haa haa. I love how you stomp in water instead of the usual swimming kicks, so with hindsight it wasn’t such a good idea for me to be swimming behind you, taking a full ‘Chuck Norris’ type stomps to my face was something I’ll never forget, lol.

You’d also enjoyed playing in the sea for the very first time, the last time we were at the beach you’d spent all your time playing with sand rather than swimming in the sea, but it was the complete opposite this time. Jumping over waves and pretending that most waves were as big as houses was a real laugh :)

For the next break, we were thinking of taking you and your sister to either the central part or the west of Thailand, so it will either be mountains or huge lakes for next time :)

The only criteria for choosing our family photos :)

Dear M and M,

Just sat with your mother to choose a few photos from our Cha Am break, after a while I was beginning to get the direction I was suppose to follow, how could I have been so blind, just couldn’t see the wood for the trees :)

SONY DSCThere is only one simple rule to follow when choosing our family photos, and I do insist that you two must remember this, it doesn’t matter if the composition was poor, or if the photos were blurry, the only, ‘only’ thing that matters is that one must choose the photos that your mother looks ‘at least decent’… otherwise the photos are not worth printing or posting, lol.

Sleeping like a boss :)

Dear Marcella,

We’ve just got back from a short break in Cha Am this late afternoon, and what an interest time we had. To start off, the day before we were setting off for this trip, you came down with a stomach flu, the Dr. said it was going to take three days to worn off (with hind sight, she was absolutely right on the money).

SONY DSCFor the whole holiday you were suffering from high temperature, keeping your mother up most of nights, and this morning we even had to wipe you down at three AM , but we were well prepared, we took what it seemed like a whole pharmacy with us on this trip, haa haa haa.

I don’t think your temp. went down below 37.5 for the whole of the three days we were away, the highest it got to was almost 39, we were ever so worried, we could tell by your eyes that you weren’t having a particular good time, but day by day you were getting better.

We had planned for you to have your first dip in the sea, so that went out of the window, and you know what, when we checked out ‘that’ was the first time your temp. returned to normal, haa haa haa, you were back to yourself just as we were leaving the hotel to return home… haa haa haa, what else one can do but laugh.

Now that you were fine, we could tell you were tired due to the lack of sleep during the past three days, so once you were in the car we plonked you down on the arm rest only for a short while on the rear seat, but in a couple of second you went to sleep just like a boss :)

Well that was a bit of a stretch :)

A bit of a stretch

Dear Marcella,

What can I say, I am back on the Gif again, I know that I’d promised not to ever, ever, ever make another Gif but these photos of you were just tooooo tempting, sorry… ;) haa haa haa haa haa haa haa.

Nice surprise :)

Dear Matt,

I’d left my tablet at home a couple of days ago, and today I was looking at the album and found about a gazillion photos and VDOs on the tablet, what a wonderful surprise, love this one of your self portrait :)

First homework :)

First Homework

Dear Matt,

Your mother took this last evening, it accompanied a short title sent from your mother, “First Homework”, I couldn’t find a better title myself :)

Apparently you wouldn’t do your homework until the sun had gone down, “Miss Carla said to do it during the night”, I can’t believe she said that, it was just your excuse so that you can watch TV instead of doing your homework :) Well played my boy :)

When the time came for you to get down to it, you took it very seriously (very proud).

I love this picture so much :)

Sneaking around :)

Inside Zurich main train station (Zurich Hauptbahnhof), quite an affective piece, a huge blue figurine dressed up in an old style bathing suit designed by someone who was obviously stuck in the 70s :)

Not sure what was going on here, but the autofocus was a bit off for this one.
