New PC System…

The fingers are itching again, the current PC I am using is around 4-5 years old, just to give you an idea on how out of date it is, the CPU is actually a Pentium D… :(

So I had a little time this morning, it only took a few minutes to plan the upgrade, quite simple really, all I need is a new CPU, Motherboard, Graphic Card, Cooler (I love my cooler) and Ram.

After checking my usual web sites (for Thailand; Jedi, Busitek and Hardwarehouse Inter), the prices were hovering around the 38,000 Bahts mark. That is around half of what I had paid the last time (but at that time it was the full system).

I think this is the right time, especially with Windows 7 looming not too far away… At first I was going to wait for USB 3, but that looks like a few more months (even years) away yet. Probably in a couple of years the CPU and Graphic Card will be upgraded, lets hope this 1366 socket stays a while :)

Can not wait to get all the bits laid out on the floor again, the last time was daunting (first build), luckily there was no problem (knock on wood), lets hope this time will be trouble free too. Actually, I still need to get the green light from my better half, in fact this could be the upgrade killer :) haa haa haa.

Short trip to Nakornpathom

Prior to yesterday, we were told that you will be moving up a level at Gymboree, meaning your class will now starts at 16:00. This new class is a lot more fun, a lot of running around with loads of new contraptions… :)
 

After the class you were still full of energy, so we decided to take a short drive to the next province (Nakornpathom), because our house is pretty much on the edge of Bangkok, going to Nakornpathom took hardly any time at all. One of the main attraction at Nakornpathom is the ‘Pathom Jadee’, a temple right in the middle of the main town.

Apart from the temple, Pathom Jadee has a great evening market with loads and loads of food stalls :)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We ended up at one of the very busy noodle stall, that is always a good sign, and were lucky enough to have found a very recently vacant table (all the dirty dishes from the previous patrons were still sitting on the table).

Unfortunately, they were just a little too popular. When I went up to order, I was told to go back to our table and wait, once they are ready they will come and clear the table as well as take our order, oh, and it was going to be around 30 minutes… :( So your mother and I decided to find another place, we were sure they make great noodles but I wasn’t prepared to wait 30 minutes just for them to take our order… No hard feelings, we shall return… :)

This is also another interesting stall, ‘Flying Ice Cream’, basically the vendor throws the ice cream really high up in the air and then catches it in a cup, I have yet to see him drop one…

There are a couple of these ‘Flying Ice Cream’ stalls in the market, and both of them claimed to be the ‘original’ :)

We are trying to find new places for you to see each week, hopefully we won’t run out of idea any time soon :)

All my fault… Sorry…

Your mother had spent a lot time and effort to make you a fantastic breakfast this morning, she spent even more patience feeding you, spoon by spoon until you ate all of it.

Then I came along, and gave you a very small piece of fruit… 20 seconds later all of your mother’s effort was on the living room floor in one big pile :( I am feeling so bad right now… Ended up giving you extra bottle of milk, and now you are sleeping downstairs… Like I said, all my fault.

I should have know better, because this isn’t the first time, it was the rule not to give you anything after you have already eaten… Sorry I just forgot… never again… :)

Brand New Shoes

There are many, many natural laws in life, because I am 36 years older than you are I have already discovered many of those laws purely through experience… As you grow up, you’ll discover that women likes shoes, so far there has been no real scientific reasoning on why that is so, but judging from your mother, grandmother and several of our friends (female) shoes and the ladies goes together better than banana and ice-cream.

So when it was time to get you a new pair of shoes, I had left it in the hands of the expert, namely your mother… so far you have about 7 pairs of shoes (courtesy of your mother and your grandmother), considering that you spend most of your time barefoot ,that is just about 6 pairs too many :) (truth be told, several of those pairs are too big, so they are just waiting for you to grow into them).

 

 

 

Anyway, one of your main shoes are already too small, so it gave your mother an opportunity to show off her talent… Shoes Spotting…

It is of course always better to bite the shoes first, before it bites you!

 

 

 

Another interesting fact, while in the toy section, you’ll show real interest in all the toys, but as soon as we get it home we would always discovered that it was the box that you were interested in.

Because we are now wiser, we didn’t get you this toy this time, instead we left you to mess around until you were bored.

Judging by the way you were hammering at it, and no doubt many kids have already had a good go at this, no wonder why so many toys on display are often broken… :)

Another Hospital Trip

Yesterday was a strange day for you, everything was out of sync. On an hour drive to your grandparents you decided to fall asleep, which usually means your afternoon nap will now be very late in the afternoon, and that is exactly what had happened. You went to sleep at around 14:00 (missing your lunch) and didn’t wake up again until 17:00 after which you had your lunch.

Your mother and I were at work, where I received a phone call from my mother saying that you were behaving rather strangely. Apparently after your (very) late lunch my mother gave you a small biscuit and that had somehow made you threw up, after which you had acted like something was stuck in your throat/nose. You were walking around and opening your mouth trying to cough and keep rubbing your face with your hands.

Your grandmother was also not feeling well (very upset stomach), so your mother had to rushed home to take you to the hospital, accompanying you was my aunt (she is fantastic and absolutely adore you, she has been helping to look after you since you were born).

After parking the car at BNH, you decided to have a huge sneeze… and guessed what happened? A piece of mince pork came out from your throat… and that was it, all was fine again, but to be safe your mother took you to see the doctor anyway, after a lot of probing (I was told you were being your difficult self again), you were declared in perfect health (touch wood).

You are right now at home, probably running around chasing either the spider by the rear of the house, a couple of cats that keep coming to the garage, or most likely the dog next door.

Wonderful Saturday

For the past couple Saturdays you were pretty stuck at home because of a runny nose, and with all of this H1N1 thing romping through Bangkok we thought it would be best for you to remain at home. We were told to stay away from crowded places (over 6,000 have been infected and with 44 deaths we are taking all the precautions we can), meaning department stores were also out of limit for you as well.

 

But this week, your runny nose had gone, and we were afraid that you were getting bored out of your little skull, we had decided to go back to Gymboree for your weekly class (I don’t think you can really call it a class, more like an assault course for babies)…

“Oh Mum, how many times do I need to tell you, I don’t want to work in a circus when I grow up.”

  



It was great to see you running, laughing and doing all you can, not to do what we asked you to do (nothing new here :) ), after Gymboree we had some time spare so we decided to go back to Phuttamonthon (it had been a few months since we were last there).

This time we had chosen to visit a new spot, somewhere more open so that you can run around and feed the fishes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

  
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
 

 

  

 

 

 

This is a huge place, I am sure you can visit it everyday and not going to the same spot twice, anyway it was a great way to end the day. I should be having some free time soon, and we are still deciding to either take you to a huge waterfall or back to the sea again, looking at the weather we are having lately, together with the ‘flu’ thing, I think it may be best to stay home a while.

Short Trip

This is Wat Don Wai, apart from being a very well known temple, another of its attraction is the colourful market and restaurants, many people seem to be selling ducks (cooked ones) as well as traditional Thai sweets, in fact the list just goes on and on.

Unfortunately, with only the 3 of us being there, this subsequently means we had to follow our primary formation… in simple words, your mother carried you, and I carried everything else (your mother’s rather HUGE handbag (made from elephant’s skin, and it must have taken at least 17 elephants (ears and all) to make this bag, because it is gargantuan colossal of a bag), all the shopping stuff, my bag, your bag, I think you get the picture). 


So, with my hands being rather full, it was darn near impossible to put everything down, then take out the camera to shoot a few shots of you and your mother… So the camera stay mainly in the bag… sorry.

What I had managed to shoot was not too bad, but the background is so boring… nonetheless, you had a great time seeing and hearing new things…, we can not wait to take you overseas…

 

Skiving Off Work…

We had only found out on the Friday that our beloved boss had decided to give us Monday (06.07.09) off, thus making it an extra long weekend from Saturday through to Tuesday, a 4 days weekend, it just doesn’t get better than that… well… it just got better because I had decided to take Wednesday off as well.

I must say that Wednesday was spent to the fullest, after lunch we took off across the city to your grand parents, it must have taken just a little over an hour by car to get there, but we were there only long enough for you to have your snack before heading off again to Safari World… what a laugh that was…

Here is a little Bambi waiting for a shot gun… Only kidding :)

   

I don’t think you were actually looking at anything in particular, but the puzzlement on your face was probably due to the smell of Rhinosaurous’ poo, calling it pungent just doesn’t do it any justice…

  

Driving through the dangerous animal enclosures reminded me of  the film Jurassic Park, waiting for the heavy metal gates to open and close… was kind a fun, but by the time you got passed the gates and saw the tigers and lions (in separate section) it was a bit of an anti-climax… I mean, I didn’t expect them to be in hunting mode like on the discovery channel, but to see them just lying there and relaxing was nice… that’s it… just nice…

Definitely going back there soon, we didn’t have enough time for one of the highlight, feeding the Giraffes…can not wait to see your face being that close to the Giraffes, assuming we all survive the H1N1 flu… hee hee.

Waiting For Mama

 

“Another day, another morning walk, but today was different… when I woke up, I was all alone…

After screaming a little, no one came…

What else could I have done if I didn’t follow my daily routine,

jumped out of the cot, walked gingerly downstairs to make my own bottle.

Got dress, still having a hard time tying the shoe-laces, so that took a bit of time.

Trying to reach the keyhole in the door also took forever...

Now that I was out, there wasn’t a soul in sight… decided to wait for Mama…”
